The usage of cannabis (marijuana) to assist in appetite and weight gain in cancer patients is well known, but some may be concerned that the effect will be negative on those who don’t wish to gain weight.
This national prospective study over a 3 year period is not only insightful, but should alleviate those concerns. Their results confirm what cross-sectional epidemiological studies have shown, that there is a lower prevalence of obesity among cannabis users.
This study demonstrated that marijuana users have a lower body mass index as a group. Good news for those using medical marijuana for health issues and don’t want to create additional health complications.
