26 patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia from 2 hospitals in Israel participated in this small study. The average age was 37.8, 73% were female, and all completed the Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire regarding the period before and after medical cannabis (marijuana) treatment.
The average dose was 26 grams per month and the average duration of use was 10.4 months.
After using marijuana, all patients reported improvement in every category on the questionnaire. 50% were able to stop taking any other fibromyalgia medicines. 30% had very mild side effects.
The authors state that marijuana had significant favorable effect on fibromyalgia patients with few adverse effects.
