The theory of clinical endocannabinoid deficiency was published in 2001. It was based on the concept that many brain disorders are associated with neurotransmitter deficiencies, and that a similar scenario could be at play in the endocannabinoid system, which would then manifest as certain disorders.
The endocannabinoid system was named after the cannabis (marijuana) plant, and is one of the most important physiological systems in the human body to establish and maintain health.
Like all mammals, YOU are hardwired with an endocannabinoid system, and it must maintain a balance or tone in order to express health within the body. For example, if endocannabinoid function or tone decreases, the result would be a lowered pain threshold, along with derangements of digestion, mood, and sleep, as these are all influenced by the endocannabinoid system.
The authors of this study indicate that using THC and standardized whole cannabis extracts that contain synergistic components such as CBD and terpinoids can be used to stimulate an under-performing endocannabinoid system.
