While cannabis (marijuana) becomes legal again in the US for medical purposes, some will wonder how well it compares to the more recent use of synthetic medicines for quality of life and pain relief.
In this study 37 chronically ill qualified patients completed surveys regarding both physical and mental health. 80% of them reported activity and functional limitations as a result of impairment or health problems.
These patients reported using medical marijuana for the treatment of a wide variety of symptoms associated with many different body systems. It was found that the relief they received was consistently in the 7-10 out of 10 range.
The results of this sampling of medical marijuana patients are comparable with the published norms in other chronically ill populations.
