Yet another strange finding from the medical world involving the potential benefits of cannabis (marijuana) on human physiology. Researchers presumed that cannabis users should have a higher likelihood of diabetes than non users. They were wrong.
In this study, the informational data was taken from the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions III. Comparisons were done regarding socio-demographics, lifestyle behaviors, physical health disorders and mental health disorders between diabetics and non diabetics.
Their conclusion: “A decreased likelihood of diabetes for cannabis users versus non-users was indicated after accounting for a range of potential confounders, including mental health disorders.”
Why? They were unable to answer that and recommend further studies.
