Fats Increase Absorption Of Oral Marijuana Consumption

Most people are aware that the components of cannabis (marijuana) such as THC and CBD are fat soluble instead of water soluble. But it may be beneficial to remember specifically to add lipids (fats) when consuming oral preparations because this will dramatically increase the absorption of your product.

In this rat study the authors demonstrated that adding lipids at the time of ingestion increased systemic levels of THC by 250% and increased systemic levels of CBD by 300%.

If you consume your marijuana products orally and wish to implement this practice for the first time, you may be well advised to back off and take it slowly, as there is a very significant difference in uptake and it may affect you in ways you weren’t expecting.
