Cannabis For Covid-19 (Coronavirus)?

One of the most detrimental components of experiencing a corona virus infection (such as Covid-19) can be the acute inflammation caused by an over-reactive “cytokine storm”. Clinical reports indicate that this is associated with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). This study found that CBD from marijuana decreases inflammation by decreasing cytokines and may therefore be a potential treatment for respiratory viruses by protecting pulmonary (lung) tissue.

In a follow-up to the above study showing the potential of CBD in the treatment of ARDS, the research team found that CBD interacts with a peptide (called apelin) essential in regulating both central and peripheral immunity, the central nervous system, metabolic system, and the cardiovascular system. This study again found that CBD was able to reverse the symptoms of ARDS toward a normal level, as well as being associated with restoring normal levels of apelin. The overall beneficial effect comes from a tendency to balance the response of the inter-related systems.

CBD is a natural component of cannabis and has been shown in many studies to have powerful anti-inflammatory effects. Inflammation is at the root of nearly all disease processes in the human body. Marijuana is a natural plant that grows readily on most parts of the planet and could be a powerful source of health supplementation if the governments of the world would stop protecting man-made pharmaceuticals by making nature illegal.
