Marijuana And Driving

As more states enact cannabis (marijuana) laws, concerns arise about potential impacts on the safety of highway driving in these localities.

The National Bureau of Economic Research conducted an analysis designed to seek if there was a causal effect on traffic fatalities in Colorado and Washington following marijuana legalization.

They state that when using a synthetic control group and evaluating records on fatal traffic accidents from 2000 to 2016, that there was similar changes in states without legalization. In other words, no differences were found in legal states.
