Marijuana Reduces Herpes Transmission

Herpes is an infection that resides in the body for a lifetime once acquired. It is most often transmitted by direct contact. Some people have no symptoms but most get lesions at the area where the virus entered the body which can be itchy and painful, turning into blisters and then healing.

This study found that THC (found in marijuana) was able to reduce the infectivity of the virus. Infectivity refers to how easily the virus is able to spread or transmit. In this case THC reduced the transmission by 80%.
