Marijuana: Synthetic Versions Are More Dangerous

If you’ve ever looked carefully you may have noticed that man just can’t create synthetic chemicals and compositions that are as safe as those found in nature. That is proving to be repeatedly true when it comes to comparing synthetic cannabis (marijuana) and natural whole plant marijuana.

This study set out to compare the psychopathological symptoms of synthetic vs natural marijuana use. 367 users were recruited online and four validated psychometric questionnaires were used: The Drug Use Disorders Identification Test (DUDIT), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), Altman Mania Scale (Altman), and Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI).

Users of synthetic marijuana (cannabis) had a higher likelihood of: drug abuse, sleep problems, (hypo)manic symptoms, somatization, obsessive-compulsive behavior, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobic anxiety, paranoid ideation, and psychoticism. Wow!

These synthetic, man-made chemicals were significantly associated with increased mental health symptomatology. It seems obvious that if you are a medical marijuana user you want to stick with medical marijuana, which is defined as utilization of the whole plant product for your health needs.
