Medical Marijuana May Decrease Prescription Use

In this Canadian study of 271 medical marijuana patients, results were similar to that found for dispensary patients in New England, where many were able to reduce prescription medication.

Cannabis (marijuana) is perceived to be an effective treatment for many diverse conditions, including pain and mental health, and 63% of these patients substituted marijuana for other drugs.

Specifically, 30% substituted for opioids, 16% for benzodiazepenes, 12% for antidepressants, 25% for alcohol, 12% for cigarettes/tobacco, and 3% for illicit drugs.

It may not be long before more studies show that mother natures medicine is safer and more effective than synthetic pills of many kinds.
