There are many findings that suggest the endocannabinoid system could be a target for improving the symptoms and progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Therefore researchers wish to know the effects of THC, CBD or both on the disease.
In the research world, animal models are often used before testing on humans. In this study mice were used to determine the effects of marijuana (cannabis) components on the pathological progression of Alzheimer’s.
The results demonstrate that either THC or CBD actually preserve memory processes when administered continuously. But even better, when both THC and CBD are administered together (similar to whole plant use like nature gave us) it results in less learning impairment as well as alteration of plaque composition. That’s good news on both accounts for those choosing marijuana as natural medicine.
